Changes to our overseas freight charges policy

Important note for non UK customers

As you will probably know, our shopping cart will calculate the shipping charges to your area. As you will see elsewhere on the site in order to calculate the shipping charge a simple percentage of your order value is used and, if appropriate, a fixed price for insurance.

The percentage used is based on the rate Royal Mail or other Carriers use for delivery to an area plus [after many years of trading experience] a typical weight of an order relative to its value value.

This system generally works fairly for our customers but having carefully analysed overseas freight charges we recognise that there are sometimes occasions where the combination of products ordered and the shipping charge can sometimes be disproportionate for example when ordering a high number of a high value product such as fairing button heads.

FOR CUSTOMERS ORDERING FROM THE SITE AND PAYING VIA PAYPAL

With effect from Monday January 19th 2015 all customers from overseas INCLUDING THE EC will receive an automatic partial refund where the rate for freight charged to the customer proves to be disproportionate. We will of course continue to accept any losses in circumstances where the freight charge is not covered by the amount the shopping cart has calculated as happens about 20% of cases.

FOR CUSTOMERS PAYING VIA DIRECT BANK TRANSFER

With effect from Monday January 19th 2015 all customers from overseas INCLUDING THE EC have the option of us picking and weighing your order before making the transfer. If there are a lot of items you wish to order, we will at our discretion ask for payment for the fasteners first and then once packed and weighed a send a separate invoice for the freight. If you wish is to do this please let us know via the customer services link at the bottom and bottom left of this page.

WE DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES AIM TO MAKE PROFIT FROM FREIGHT CHARGES
